تحقیقات جدید در دانشگاه جورجیا نشان می‌دهد که اسیدهای چرب امگا ۳ و امگا ۶ ممکن است خطر ابتلا به سرطان‌های مختلف به ویژه دستگاه گوارش، مغز و پوست را کاهش دهد.
این مطالعه که داده‌های بیش از ۲۵۰ هزار شرکت کننده را مورد تجزیه و تحلیل قرار داد، نشان داد که میزان سرطان در افرادی که سطوح بالایی از این اسیدهای چرب دارند، کمتر است. اگرچه مصرف بیشتر امگا ۳ ممکن است کمی خطر ابتلا به سرطان پروستات را افزایش دهد.
